On this day,

Audre Geraldine Lorde, writer, poet, feminist, womanist, librarian, and activist, was born in 1934 in Harlem, New York. Chloe Anthony Wofford ‘Toni’ Morrison, novelist, editor, essayist, and professor, was born in 1931 in Lorain, Ohio. She won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993.
