The ‘Ethiopia: Modern Nation/Ancient Roots’ season is about to launch with a two-day programme of events this weekend October 11 and 12th at the Africa Institute. It all marks the start of the first scholarly and cultural season at Africa Hall, Sharjah, with a dynamic program that includes a lecture on Ethiopian history as well as live music performances by Ethiopian musicians Alemayehu and Band, featuring Bethlehem Bekele
Dr Salah M. Hassan tells Sally more about the Africa Institute and their exciting upcoming programs. He is an art critic, curator and author, and is the Goldwin Smith Professor and Director of the Institute for Comparative Modernities and Professor of Art History and Visual Culture in the Africana Studies and Research Center and the Department of History of Art and Visual Studies at Cornell University.
