Host: Kathy Sinnott with Gabriel Doherty.
This week marked the centenary of two seminal moments in Irish history - the meeting of the first Dáil (parliament) and the start of the War of Independence against Britain. The ‘founding fathers’ of the new Irish republic had a vision to build a society rooted in Irish identity and Catholic social teaching. 100 years on, what has happened to their vision for a new Ireland? Kathy’s guest is Gabriel Doherty, lecturer in Irish History, University College Cork, Historical Adviser to the Centenary Commission of Dáil Éireann.
