Host: Kathy Sinnott with guest Fr Bernard McGuahan SJ
Mercy is a word we hear often in the Church these days. But what is the true meaning of God’s mercy? For some the mercy of God would depict God as a kind of shallow, well meaning deity, who is indifferent to the ways of men. Others might understand him as a kind of tyrant who demands we beg for mercy, like a servant to an overbearing master. The scriptures tell us that God is our father. He loves us with an everlasting love - the depth of which is seen by Christ's passion and death for us on the cross. And like a good father he sometimes chastises us his children, but always out of love. Fr Bernard McGuahan, a Jesuit father from Cloughmills, County Antrim in Northern Ireland, is perhaps the worlds most renowned expert on the mercy of God as revealed through devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus - and the Devine mercy as revealed to St Faustina. Fr McGuahan takes an in depth look at the true nature of the mercy of God.
