Host: Kathy Sinnott and Paul MacAree with guest Fr. John McCarthy
Cobh, County Cork Ireland, a place of great graces for the world - yet also a place of terrible grief and sadness. It’s the place that the passengers on the Titanic saw for the last time on that fateful voyage of 1912. The port of Cobh is where countless Irish missionaries and emigrants left their beloved Ireland, most never to return. The great Cobh Cathedral church of St. Colman is where they would have received the sacraments for the last time before saying farewell to their loved ones. This year celebrates the centennial of St Colman’s cathedral. Fr John McCarthy is the cathedral administrator. Paul MacAree talked to Fr. McCarthy about the fascinating history of this holy Irish place.
