The Celtics regular season began this past week and the Celtics immediately started with a tough test on opening night as they took on former teammate Al Horford and his new team the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics would lose their first big test by a final score of 107-93. A lot of the same issues that appeared to plague the Celtics new top players last year appears to have followed them to the new season. From Tatum mishandling the ball on the fast break and trying to be a 1 man show to Jaylen Browns lack of focus on the defensive end to the Celtics free throw shooting. The only positives to take away from the game were Celtics SG Gordon Hayward being the teams best player as he was their best shooter and was aggressive all night. Also new Celtics big man Enes Kanter showed he may be the Celtics best chance to try and limit Joel Embiid in future matchups. The Celtics 2 nights later would have a chance to try and right the ship when they hosted the defending NBA Champions the Toronto Raptors in their home opener. The Celtics would play without Enes Kanter who was out due to an injury suffered against the 76ers. The Celtics were victorious 112-106 in a game in which Raptors stars Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry scored a combined 62 points. The Celtics had a poor shooting night overall but used a 21 to 5 offensive rebound advantage to overcome the hot shooting of the Raptors stars. The Celtics however did lose Daniel Theis to an ankle sprain that would add him to the list of players who would miss the game the next night against the Knicks. The very next night the Celtics were in New York to take on former teammate Marcus Morris and the New York Knicks at MSG. The Celtics again started off slow trailing the Knicks 24-22 after 1 and 51-46 at halftime. However the 2nd half was a different story and the Celtics turned things around in route to a 118-95 win.
