TALK ABOUT MAKING A STATEMENT. The Boston Celtics looking to prove that they are still a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference and that its not just a 2 team race for the right to go to the NBA Finals made their point. The Celtics last Wendesday night took on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in their 1st showdown since the Bucks ousted the Celtics in the 2nd round of the NBA Playoffs last season. The Celtics went into this game without the services of Jaylen Brown and Center Enes Kanter. The Celtics despite going down 19 points early in the game managed to overcome that defecit with a dominant 3rd quarter performance which saw Brad Stevens ditch the small ball lineup and move to a more traditional lineup of 3 guards and 2 big in route to a 116-105 win. Kemba Walker scored 32 points, Jayson Tatum added 25, Gordon Hayward scored 21 and Marcus Smart starting in the place of Jaylen Brown scored 19 and had some big time defense played against Antetokounmpo. That game moved the Celtics to 3-1 on the season. The Celtics 2 nights later would face the Knicks for the 2nd time on this season. After blowing out the Knicks a week earlier on the road the Celtics were tested in a 104-102 home win. 4 nights later the Celtic were once again tested by a team that is not expected to be a playoff contender as they took on the Cavs in Cleveland. The Cavs took the Celtics down to the wire but some big shots late from Gordon Hayward and Kemba Walker allowed the Celtics to win the game 119-113. That win moved the Celtics to 5-1 on the season which was good enough for best record in the Eastern Conference.
