The Celtics have been hit by the injury bug and the Celtics over the last week and have been forced to play with only 3 of its top 5 guys and then a majority of the rest of the team featuing its young players. The Celtics took on the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas without the services of Marcus Smart who was forced to miss the last few games with an eye infection that at first was in only 1 eye but since then has moved to both eyes and has doctors saying they have not seen anything like it and has Celtics fans worried as to when we might see Smart on the floor again. Gordon Hayward has also missed the last week of action with a foot injury that the team says is just a sprain and is not severe and they are only waiting for him to feel comfortable as they do not want to rush him back this early in the season. The Celtics also have been without Robert Williams due to a hip injury and Vincent Poirier who fractured his pinky and will miss several weeks of action as his pinky heals. The Celtics however got to face the Dallas Mavericks on the same level as the Mavs played without star guard Luka Doncic. The Celtics were victorious 109-103 over the Mavs giving them a 2-0 season series sweep over the Mavs and moving them to 18-7 on the season and made then the 2nd best team record wise in the Eastern Conference. 2 nights later the Celtics would take on the Detroit Pistons in Boston but once again would be without the services of Hayward and Smart. However just like the Mavs game the Celtics were playing a team who were missing some of its own key players to level the playing field. The Celtics would win this game 114-93 as Tatum and Brown scored 26 points a piece. Kemba Walker had a bad night shooting wise but had 10 assists.
