Without the I&M canal, Illinois and Chicago would not be what they are today. The 1800s was a brutal time to be alive and to say earning a living back then was hard would be a serious understatement. Settling the west was traumatic enough, but what happens when trailblazers die in mass and are buried amongst each other? Would something refuse to leave? What kind of energy would that leave behind? How would it show you that it was still around?
