After a week of extreme heat, even by DC summer standards, Central Union Mission shares its strategies for keeping people on the street cool and hydrated. Guest, Pastor Ron Stanley, Vice President of Men’s Ministry at the Mission says the goal is to provide guests with a safe, cool place to go in the heat..as well as in the extremes of winter.
Pastor Stanley also explaining the Mission distributes cooling towels, sunscreen and cold and keeps a close water on the elderly members of the homeless community who may also have unknown medical conditions. And if you encounter someone living on the street in extreme weather, to direct them to a shelter or provide a bottle of cold water or in DC, you can call 3-1-1.
