Politicians believe we are all too stupid to know better or pay attention or both. When you tax something you get less of what you wanted not more. It never works out the way it was intended. Just like $15/hr minimum wage, placing additional taxes on those profiting from housing creation won't help boost the economy or create more housing; it will do just the opposite.
