In the final episode of the season, host Jamila Souffrant sits down with Café Momentum founder and Dallas-based chef, Chad Houser, about his fascinating career blending his love for food and his desire to leave the world a better place. Chad has enjoyed a long and successful career in the hospitality industry, even becoming a member of the Hospitality Institute Hall of Fame. But about a decade ago, he turned his passion outward and started the non-profit venture Café Momentum, a restaurant and culinary training facility that offers a paid internship program for young men and women coming out of juvenile facilities. The restaurant has proven a huge hit, giving patrons delicious food and its interns a chance to learn important life and work skills. Now, Chad is on a mission to transform the juvenile justice system across the country and is using his platform to do exactly that. In this conversation, Jamila and Chad discuss how he built Café Momentum, the lessons he's learned about philanthropy since entering the nonprofit world, and what we all can learn from his example to make an impact in our own communities.
