Lindsay Stadel: The Road Before the Fall | Part One
A documentary story about mental health, addiction, motherhood, suicidal ideation, and the road that came before a life-changing moment.
On a stretch of Midwest highway, a single action, opening the door of a moving truck, splits a life in two.
In Part One of Lindsay Stadel’s story, we follow the road that came before that moment: from a fifth-grade classroom where she first began to struggle, through years of searching for belonging, addiction, fractured relationships, motherhood, and a growing belief that the people she loved might be better off without her.
Lindsay speaks candidly about suicidal ideation, substance use, abusive relationships, and the years she can only remember in pieces. Her story reveals how a mental health crisis is rarely created by one moment. Sometimes it is built slowly, through isolation, pain, secrecy, and the quiet accumulation of believing you no longer matter.
This is Part One of a two-part documentary story about mental health, addiction, survival, motherhood, and the people who stay.
Content note: This episode contains discussion of suicidal ideation, addiction, abusive relationships, and a suicide attempt. Please listen with care.
