In Episode 5, we feature Youth Changemaker Daniela Staton, founder of STEM Squad—a Philanthropy Tank program bringing hands‑on STEM learning to underserved K–8 students. Through engaging activities like building circuits, engineering wind turbines, designing catapults, and exploring photosynthesis, STEM Squad makes science, technology, engineering, art, and math fun, accessible, and inspiring.
Through Philanthropy Tank, students create year‑round programs that solve a challenge in our community. Through the process of creating a program, pitching it to philanthropist investors and mentors, and implementing the program, students learn many transferable professional skills and impact the community.
Founded in 2022 at a local library, STEM Squad has grown into a youth‑led initiative that has reached more than 300 children through community partnerships and a dedicated team of teen volunteers. The program’s mission is simple yet powerful: to spark curiosity, build confidence, and open doors to future opportunities for young learners who may not otherwise have access to high‑quality STEM education.
