Just the book I've been looking for!

What an excellent book! This is just the book that I've been looking for, as I was looking for a modern day interpretation of the Psalms. Whenever I've tried to read the book of Psalms in the past, I've had a hard time getting through it. This day-by-day chapter approach to Psalms is just what I've been wanting. I love it! In my moments of despair as I call out to God in prayer, I can apply it to David when he put his trust in God, sought after Him, and praised Him. The author Lynnda Ell does a great job of opening up and applying the Biblical truths to today's realities through prayer. A great way for me to start and end my day is by reading this book! I look forward to reading other books by this author.

An amazing resource for prayer!

As a person who has loved the Psalms for years and has sought to grow in my practice of praying them, when I finally got a copy of this book I quickly knew that it was going to take its place at the top of my most used and recommended books not only on the Psalms but on the general category of prayer as well (and I have loads of books on both of these areas). This book's great contribution to the reader is found in how it shows what it actually "looks like" to really enter into the message of a psalm and then turn it into one's own private prayer. This truly is one of the richest books I've read in many years. Why? --- because we so often struggle as people who want to pray well. Now, however, with this book as an encouragement and guide, any person can meditate upon any one of the 41 Psalms that are printed in full in the book and then by reading prayerfully the author's very meaningful prayers that are drawn from both the wording and the theme of each Psalm, the life of personal prayer comes alive. I love commentaries on the Psalms, and I love other books on prayer -- but I have come to see that by using a resource such as this one by Lynnda Ell one can most deeply enter into a life of prayer according to the manner in which the gospels show Jesus Himself did -- as He so consistently gave us clues that He was and had been "praying the Psalms." Don't delay, buy this book and let it greatly enhance your life of prayer. It is one that can easily be used with great value on a daily basis in enhancing your prayer life.

Each of the 41 Psalms in "Book One" of the Psalter are covered in this first volume in the series, and they each are covered with contemporary wording while always being tied to the original text of Scripture. This is a jewel of a book, and I only hope now that the author will proceed and offer her prayers on the other Psalms as well, in future volumes in this series.
