The Dutch political scene is in turmoil due to failed coalition talks and the collapse of the government. Mark Rutte's resignation and the withdrawal of the New Social Contract (NSC) party from coalition discussions have left the Netherlands without a stable government. This instability could weaken Dutch economic policies and influence within the EU, potentially disrupting European markets and impacting global trade and investment. The uncertainty surrounding the formation of a new government may delay important policy decisions, affecting international economic relations. Dr. Stan Veuger joins the latest show to talk more.

Stan Veuger is a senior fellow in economic policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the editor of AEI Economic Perspectives, and an affiliate of AEI’s Center on Opportunity and Social Mobility. He is also a fellow at the IE School of Politics, Economics, and Global Affairs, and an affiliate of Harvard University’s Center for American Political Studies. He was a Campbell Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution in May 2022 and will be a visiting lecturer of economics at Harvard in the fall of 2024.
