Listen Later

Chapel Hill Mayor Jess Anderson joins 97.9 The Hill News Director Brighton McConnell on Thursday, August 7 for “Conversations with the Mayors.” A full month removed from the flooding of Tropical Depression Chantal, Anderson shares details on the recently-launched individual assistance grants through the state government and the stories she’s still hearing around the community from affected residents. Monday marks the first day in the office for new Chapel Hill Town Manager Ted Voorhees, and Anderson shares what she is looking forward to him assuming the permanent role. Finally, the mayors shares a few town-run events and things to keep in mind leading up to the imminent return of undergraduate classes for UNC.

Conversations With the Mayors is an ongoing series on “News on the Hill” where host Andrew Stuckey visits with the local government leaders who help shape our communities in Chapel Hill and the surrounding area. Each Tuesday he visits with Hillsborough Mayor Mark Bell; Wednesdays feature a conversation with Chair of the Orange County Commissioners Jamezetta Bedford; Thursdays feature Chapel Hill Mayor Jess Anderson, and Fridays include a conversation with Carrboro Mayor Barbara Foushee. You can listen to previous “Conversations With the Mayors” here.
