Chappell Roan BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.
Chappell Roan made major headlines this week with the launch of The Midwest Princess Project, a charitable nonprofit she created to support transgender youth and LGBTQ plus communities across the United States. The pop star announced the initiative on social media, revealing that the organization has already raised over four hundred thousand dollars through proceeds from her recent sold out Visions of Damsels and Other Dangerous Things pop up shows in New York City, Los Angeles, and Kansas City.
The project takes its name from her acclaimed debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and demonstrates Roan's commitment to giving back to the communities that have supported her meteoric rise to fame. She pledged that every dollar possible, aside from minimal administrative fees, will be donated to organizations that need it most. One dollar from every ticket sold during her tour stops was earmarked specifically for local LGBTQ plus organizations.
The funds are being distributed to six organizations across three major cities. In New York, The Center and the Ali Forney Center will receive donations. Los Angeles recipients include the Trans Wellness Center and the TransLatin at Coalition. In her home state of Missouri, The GLO Center in Springfield and The Center Project in Columbia are getting support. According to Scene Magazine, Roan expressed her deep connection to the cause, stating that at the center of everything she does is her quest to bring queer joy to the world and give back to the community of fans who have lifted her up and inspired her along the way.
This isnt Roans first foray into advocacy work. Earlier this year, she launched the We Got You Fund in partnership with Backline, which raised over five hundred thousand dollars to support mental health services for artists and touring crews. Her activism has earned her recognition including the Warrior Award from the Songwriters of North America for her commitment to fair treatment and mental health in the music industry. The Midwest Princess Project represents another significant step in her ongoing efforts to use her platform for meaningful social change.
