Virginia assists Charles, Tristan, and Nathaniel with gathering firewood, while learning more about each of them—all except for Charles, who continues to be quiet on matters concerning himself. 
Full of rage and anger at his previous failure, Dark Cry leads a small pack of wolves to scout and kill Virginia. Stalking from shadows of the woods, they patiently wait for their moment to strike.
