Today, we're on chapter four, Skill-Building - Elevator Speech. An elevator speech is a clear and concise brief message about you. It's your commercial. Treat it like it's your super bowl commercial. In this commercial, you need to communicate the following: Introduce yourself Introduce your company Give a brief description of what problem(s) you can solve Provide a call to action An elevator speech received its terminology because it's typically about 15 to 20 seconds, the time it takes people to ride from the top to the bottom of a building in an elevator. (The idea behind having an elevator speech is that you are prepared to share this information with anyone at any time, even in an elevator.) It is important to have your elevator speech committed to memory. Rehearse your elevator speech and front of a mirror. The important thing is to practice it out loud. You want it to sound natural. Get comfortable with what you have to say so it sounds second nature to anyone hearing it for the first time. This elevator speech is absolutely no longer than 15 to 20 seconds or in words, approximately 50 to 60 words or in sentences, five to six sentences. Here's my elevator speech.
