The attic storage room is dry and without life. Just cascading canvas hanging off of old wood furniture. Broken bar stool legs, a shattered plastic adirondak chair and rusted license plates. Piles of unopened crates. The single black candle sits on a silvery plate in the half darkness with only fractional beams of dull light filtering through a gauzy certain. A biting winter wind cuts through the broken window near the candle tossing that curtain closer to the burning wick. The flame.. Doesn’t move.
