Making their way through the dank tunnels under the mountains, Ashlynn and Kenayde put their hope in a young water dragon named Elas. Though Kenayde is eager to trust him, Ashlynn cannot find herself to do the same and questions his motives. When a mysterious telepathic order to Elas comes from a stranger telling him to lead them to her, Ashlynn is forced to make a choice: go back to the monastery to risk not only facing Merrik but also seeing Briac slain, or continue forward, praying for a way out of the darkness.
