In this episode of The Architecture of Story, authors Meg Rosenthal and Hannah Hamrick go beyond the structure of the physical plot points of a novel and dive deep on the characters that make up these stories. They walk through certain techniques that they use to flesh out their characters to get to know their attributes, their wants vs. their needs, and things that help fuel their arcs. Once we know who our players are, the two talk about how to break down the plot by using action and reaction to further deepen the reader's understanding of the growth being done on the page.
