I teach kids manners. I teach them through explicit modelling. I teach them to take personal responsibility. I do the same with heads, slt, wider staff. We’re hundreds of people squashed together in one building day after day. We may not even want to be there! So how do we learn to make the best of it?

Nearly 30 years in teaching, over a decade teaching teachers. A founder of Michaela. An iconoclast French teacher. A ‘transformational’ head. Called a ‘genius’, and ‘the toughest teacher in the land’. Called a lot worse! Doug Lemov said he wished I taught his kids. Christine Counsell talked about the warmth and joy in my lessons.
