Please turn in your Bibles to John 5:31-47

“For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was He breaking the Sabbath, but He was even calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.” John 5:18

“If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true.” John 5:31

First Witness: John the Baptist (V 32-35)

Second Witness: The Miracles (V 36)

Third Witness: The Father (V 37-38)

Fourth Witness: The Scriptures (V 39-40)

You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”

Closing Argument: Jesus (V 41-47)

Why do many still not accept Jesus?

o They are unwilling (V 40: see word “refuse”)

o They are proud

“…grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus

Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 1 Peter 3:18
