the earth is green and moist to my feet and there’s sunlight and soft
rain. But above all, there’s a feeling of peace, a connection to
something greater. And I stay there for a while until I can let go,
unclench and breathe.
“That temple courtyard where the trees reach out their branches in
supplication. I can take you there.
“That place of power, high in the mountains where you can feel the
beyond so close to you, feel it touching you, refreshing you. I can take
you there.
“That beach where the voices of the waves reassure and caress you. Where
your tired, aching feet are bathed in a spray of soft foam. I can take
you there.
“To that place within, where all your sorrows and travails are blessed.
I am Chariklo. I know the way. I can take you there.”
