How can you get people to stop and care about someone else? Especially someone they may not directly have the opportunity to meet in person? There are countless charities and causes to choose from that we can help. What makes us pick one over the other? Authenticity is a way to people's hearts. People want to see, feel, and experience what others that need help... experience. In a world of sensory overload, finding a cause that speaks to us can be challenging to choose the chosen ones we become passionate about and connecting with them on a deeper level can be even more rare.

When we think of impact, what would be a cause that would help touch our souls while we actually get to see our donations directly helping transform the lives of others? Water is the giver of life. Water helps us all grow our food, nourish our bodies and helps carry us through our day. It is unthinkable to imagine not everyone has access to water, let alone clean water with over 770 million people lacking basic access to clean and safe drinking water. 

On this episode of OWC’s Leaders & GameChangers, Setorii speaks with the man who is on a mission to change this. He is the founder and CEO of Charity: Water and they have already helped over 14.5 million people get clean water in over 29 countries! His name is Scott Harrison and Scott’s innovative storytelling has helped their team secure in-kind and monetary donations from the normally impossible to-get-to large corporations to supporters around the world. His tenacity helped him get to the top while he also helped create innovative solutions that had not been created before. An exampled of this was a Google Earth sensor in the water wells to alert people when a water well was needing a repair. This helps people be proactive by continuing to ensure their efforts around the world are still thriving well after the instillation of the water well.

Scott and Charity: Water's foresight to shift into Bitcoin early and shift to evolve their subscription model, helped them become the blueprint for what a charity can do right. Their efforts of connecting with donors while ensuring they always moved the needle forward... was driven by one mission, to ensure everyone on our planet has clean water. Scott's book, THIRST is a story about compassion and his mission in life is deeply inspiring.
