In this episode, our study continues through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount with Matthew 5:5: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” After walking through poverty of spirit and mourning over sin, we now get to explore how meekness is the Spirit-produced outcome of that inner surrender: what happens when we come to God empty-handed, repent deeply, and begin yielding our reactions to Christ.
This session redefines meekness in a way that confronts the world’s assumptions: meekness is not weakness, it is power under control. Like a strong horse that becomes useful only when bridled, meekness is strength restrained, submission to God, and gentleness that comes from the Spirit rather than personality.
Through this episode think about and examine what spills out when life squeezes you, especially in everyday moments like parenting, marriage, work stress, driving, and frustrating interactions with strangers.
Meekness is not something we “try harder” to manufacture, it’s something God works into us through surrender, repentance, and even trials. This is a challenging but freeing episode, one that invites believers to trade emotional explosion for Spirit-led strength, and to experience the blessing Jesus promised: a life marked by peace, humility, and kingdom inheritance.
