Charlie Engle is a former cocaine and crack addict who has gone on to win a number of the toughest ultramarathons in the world.

Charlie is also one of the stars of the legendary documentary Running the Sahara, which was produced and narrated by Matt Damon. Running the Sahara chronicles Charlie Engle, Ray Zahab and Kevin Lin's successful crossing of the entire Sahara desert, in which they ran back-to-back marathons for 111 days straight - without a day off.

In this interview Charlie goes into detail about addiction, suffering, his new book Running Man: A Memoir.. and running his own Badwater while locked up in prison.
