In the first episode of “Just Something About Her,” our host Jennifer Palmieri speaks to writer and activist Charlotte Clymer about navigating her past and present as a trans woman who grew up in Texas, joined the military, and eventually went on to be a widely published writer with a controversial Twitter presence.

Jennifer Palmieri is the former Communications Director for the Obama White House and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. She uses her communications expertise to illuminate underlying messages – and often unconscious biases – in the way women are spoken about, treated, and often view themselves.

Charlotte and Jennifer discuss the quid pro quo Charlotte faces as a trans woman with self-described “practical politics” and how there is currently no playbook for trans women facing discrimination. Charlotte also addresses criticism she faced as leader of a women’s equality Facebook group before coming out.
