Charlotte Cook, Beer Brewer

Listen Later

Craft Beer has exploded in popularity during the last 20 years but the industry - certainly on the production side - remains dominated by men. The journey to becoming a Head Brewer in this highly competitive sector is arduous for anyone but, for women like Charlotte Cook, it will also undoubtedly include shocking levels of sexism.

Not only has Charlotte refused to buckle under that hostility, but she's determined to describe those experiences as she believes it's perhaps the only way to promote real change. In this episode we hear how an American IPA she was recommended changed the course of her entire working life, discuss her start at Brew Dog and subsequent involvement with 'Punks with Purpose', a group of former employees highly critical of the working culture at the hugely successful Scottish craft beer brewer, plus her hopes for a better Beer industry.
