Today on the Film Club, Charlotte picks one of Tom Hanks' most iconic roles, in 1994's 'Forrest Gump'. The slow-witted Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks) has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and leaves a life that is anything but dull and uneventful. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star, fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save -- his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright). Robert Zemeckis directed the film, which won multiple Oscars in 1995.
