This looks a navigation with the sun. I can fill in the gaps of the polarizing crystals, and the re-imagnitization of Moby Dick's compass but it would be much better with diagrams to aid understanding. It is interesting that Greenwich was selected after a Washington conference and that Plain sailing refereed to the Plain of a flat map.
