Greetings, Views Expressed readers. We’re having company!
I’m doing something a little different this week and I’m very excited about it. Today, Views Expressed is featuring its first guest author! Last year, when I was teaching at the Marine Command and Staff College, I brought in a couple of friends to provide lectures. One of my colleagues said to me afterword, “you’ve got some pretty interesting friends, Joe.” And it’s true! So, I thought, why not feature some of those interesting friends in Views Expressed?
Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to you Dr. Jasmine Mote. Jasmine is a licensed clinical psychologist and Research Assistant Professor at Boston University (my alma mater). In addition to her scholarly work, she also writes a Substack newsletter called Mental Healthy. In addition to visiting her newsletter to catch up on the great pieces she’s published there, if you visit this week, you’ll find a sneak peek at my latest which I’ll publish here next week.
Alright, on to Dr. Mote’s brilliant essay.
