As a piece of Dr. Young's newsletter and podcast, he shares a beautiful poem about young Black Children. This episode will focus on words of affirmation, teaching math to young children, and we will continue to go slow as it is important for all ages to remember these lessons. 

To prepare your children, and continue their education over the holiday season, you might be surprised at the number of skills that you can not only develop, but enhance. Listen for examples, awareness, and inspiration! 

Today we learn the importance of and How to compare and learn mathematical terminology. This is also an opportunity to learn how to NOT compare your our skills to others or instilling the fear of knowledge into our children. Terminology and concepts help classify and organize our train of thought for the foundation of math. 

Math is all around young children everyday. Keep math in the forefront, in the substantial. With AI become more and more a reality in our world, math skills and concepts should transition from the abstract to the application and functional. 

Almost everything in your environment can be related to math. Part of our job is to expose our children to exploration, patterns, shapes in the real world, etc. By continuously playing and engaging, you will notice the effect that it's having on them. 

Children will begin to put together things that make sense, with the right, early guidance. Mental pictures and associations will become internalized, and Dr. Young shows us how to do this, the impact it has on our children, and how to set up these 21st Century kids for success with the critical resources that are at our fingertips.
