C.J. Allen leverages his more than 15 years of music industry experience representing, advocating for, and managing Canadian artists and creating original digital content that highlights the talent of unsigned singer-songwriters.  Having gotten his start in the music business working with Korean and Western acts while living in Asia, Allen has helped guide the careers of artists from Canada, the USA, India, the UK, the Bahamas, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. As a tour manager, promoter and eventually A&R for indie labels in South Korea, Allen travelled extensively through Asia supporting emerging artists and their artist development. While abroad, Allen became the first expatriate to serve as executive producer for a Korea-based and internationally broadcast pop culture television series produced by CJ E&M and airing on Mnet America and tvN Asia. Allen’s Asia credits also include serving as editor-in-chief of NEH magazine, programming consultant for Green Groove music festival and World DJ Fest, and judge for Korea’s Got Talent’s English language spinoff, Top Talent. Following a seven-year stint in Asia, Allen returned to his native Canada in 2014 and has continued to actively discover and shape unsigned, aspiring talent as the executive producer and head judge for The Shot – Canada’s foremost avenue for recording artists to showcase their own original music and talent. Now in its eighth season, The Shot has become the destination artist discovery platform for singers from across Canada. Allen continues to be active as an artist manager, A&R and programming consultant, and music project angel investor and serves a numerous for profit and not-for-profit boards of directors and advisory committees.
