Big Idea: to draw from God’s Word and the promise of Christ’s return with great confidence
For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of things,
though you know and are established in the present truth.
2Peter 1:12
“Remind” (V 5-9): Cause + Effect = Assurance
How do I know the Bible is true? (ref. John 5:39)
1: I know the Bible is true because it tells me so…
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…
2Timothy 3:16a (NKJV).
Inspired (theopneustos): Theo = God + Pneustor = Inspired
“…holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
2Peter 1:21b
2: I know the Bible is true because it validates itself
3: I know the Bible is true because I know the Author personally
“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them
you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify
about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
