Today's episode features Chef Shanita or Shanita McAfee-Bryant, a mom and professional chef that has served the Kansas City area + national cities like LA, NYC and Chicago as a culinary extrodinare. Shanita has been featured on popular cooking TV shows and was the 2014 winner of "Cut Throat Kitchen". She has worked for high-profile restaurants and clients, but also has realized that her passion for cooking goes beyond that and has launched an initiatve in Kansas City with the "Fresh & Free Produce Box" project to bring healthy produce to parts of the city that are lacking access. Shanita shares her experiences building her career, while raising her babies and how she shares her cooking with her community, plus the struggles of being a Black woman in the kitchen in an industry that is not always diverse.
