Cherish Your mama.
Hug your Mama
kiss your Mama
Love your Mama
but don’t cause any grief
to tug at her soul
you’ve got to
cherish her always
until she gets old…..
Cause ya only get one
to call you daughter or Son
all the rest are just
substitutes or placebos
Just one step
below motherhood
that your Daddy picked
when he gave up
his 1st wife…..\your mother
for another spouse.
and even though
they might love you dearly
your mom’s bond stays unbroken
it can never be undone
cause she’s the only one
who bore the strain, gain
and pain of squeezing you
from darkness to light
from her womb into life….
or wore the scar of
a surgical knife
She was the first
one to hold you
and mold you with love
she was chosen to be yours
from the heavens above
and though there
have been mothers
who wound up undeserving
of the title they carried
when they left you behind…
Know that they’ll
carry that guilt
to the end of their days
in so many ways
cause there’s a
button of flesh
a umbilical scar
that connects them to you
no matter where or how far
they might wander
or squander
the gift of flesh
they were given
their own mother
gave them one
it serves to haunt
their decisions
My mom was only here briefly
60 years was her mark
and when she left us for glory
a chunk of my world went dark
I’d give up all that I value
and10 years of my lifetime
If I could see her
just once more
and hug her just
one more time.
Go hug you Mama
kiss your Mama
Love your Mama
