Cheryl LaFrance - Advocate for people with intellectual disabilities

Cheryl was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan. Her mother relocated with her to Port Huron shortly after her birth to be closer to family. She has been married for 22 years to her husband Rob and has two adult children, Christopher and Emily and three dogs. She enjoys spending time with family, friends, reading, watching PBS, spending time in Northern Michigan and traveling the continental US with her husband.

While a youth she attended Port Huron Area Schools and took Nursing classes at SC4. While she realized nursing wasn’t the right field for her, she still found her life work advocating for those in need.

Cheryl stated her career working in a nursing home and then changed to working in a group home for people with intellectual disabilities. In 1996 she started working for an adult day program and worked in the field of supporting people with disabilities until March of 2021. She has since taken a role as an administrative assistant.

Cheryl has a had a live long passion for supporting and advocating for people with disabilities. It is something near close to her heart and she has served thousands of people across St. Clair County.
