In 2006, planning got underway to build a vertiport in West Chicago. Certified as operational this March, the $13 million facility features a 30,000-square-foot hangar and an 11,700-square-foot terminal. The vertiport is home to aircraft sales and brokerage business, and DHL has signed on to conduct daily operations, to fly in packages and documents for companies doing business in Chicago.
