Listen Later

The 1968 Chicano Blowouts are considered one of the largest student-led marches in American history. Lincoln High School served as the initial catalyst for the protests. Students at Lincoln High were determined to challenge the status quo and rally against the unequal treatment they experienced in the education system. The East LA Walkouts represented a call-to-action for access to quality education for Latinx youth. March 1-8, 1968 around 15,000 students walked out of their classrooms.
