Today's guest is Lisa Steele, fifth generation chicken keeper and expert, creative force behind Fresh Eggs Daily, popular destination for natural poultry keeping advice on the internet, and influential player in the backyard chicken keeping community. Her work has been featured on The View, Martha Knows Best, HGTV, Dr. Oz, and the Hallmark Home and Family Show. Lisa shares her recipes using fresh eggs and produce from her farm in central Maine, where she lives with her husband, Corgi, tuxedo cat, and a mixed flock of nearly three dozen chickens, geese, and ducks.
Lisa grew up in central Massachusetts in a small town and had a chicken farm across the street from her house, where she raised chickens as part of 4-H. She went to college in Rhode Island to become an accountant and then worked on Wall Street for several years before burning out. She then moved to Maine, where she started her own business, Fresh Eggs Daily, and became a successful author, entrepreneur, and television host.
Lisa shares tips and tricks for successful backyard chicken keeping and talks about the importance of sustainability and self-sufficiency in today's world.
