Mr. Big Stuff' singer Jean Knight has died at age 80 😥 Jean Knight, the soul singer best known for the song "Mr. Big Stuff," died last week at 80. New Orleans singer Jean Knight only scored one No. 1 hit on the Billboard soul singles chart, but what a hit it was. "Mr. Big Stuff" was a funky, sweeping indictment of men who are too big for their britches. It was Jean Knight's first and only big hit for the Memphis powerhouse label Stax Records. And with the success of "Mr. Big Stuff," Jean Knight became Stax's top selling female artist. The single went double platinum and earned Knight a Grammy nomination. All this was a long way from her day job of working as a baker as she shopped herself around as a vocalist. Jean Knight never quite caught the charts or pop culture interests the same way after "Mr. Big Stuff," but the song endured. Hip-hop came to rediscover it through Heavy D's 1987 version.

Shaft' actor Richard Roundtree dies at 81He was 81. His manager, Patrick McMinn of McMinn Management and Artists & Representatives Agency, confirmed his death in a statement. He said Roundtree had pancreatic cancer and died Tuesday afternoon. His family was at his side.😥

White Detroit cop found guilty of assault of Black police officer👮

A Black veteran Detroit police officer accused a younger white officer of racial profiling in 2019. Now three years later, that younger officer has been found guilty of assault.

"We the jury in the above-entitled action, find the defendant Thomas Michael Joseph Jones guilty," said the jury foreman. A jury convicted a Detroit cop of assaulting Officer Christopher Williams in a case that made national headlines, embarrassed the Detroit Police Department, and humiliated an 18-year veteran of the force.

"I’ll be able to get some sleep now after all this time, so it’s a good thing," said Williams.

It was a little more than three years ago when Officer Tom Jones, a white man, chased Williams down, shoved him into a fence, and forcefully handcuffed him at the department’s training center where roughly 100 plainclothes cops were logging hours to meet yearly training standards.

Jones saw Williams with a large amount of cash on his person in the bathroom of the training center and suspected of him wrong-doing.

"For him to work the street, what would he do to my grandmother, to my mother," Williams said. "I hope he wouldn’t put them in cuffs for having money on them."

"The element of race doesn't escape me either," said attorney Todd Perkins. "That this white officer saw fit to tell this Black man, that you’re not supposed to have this kind of money on you."

Flint pastors want apology from councilman after ‘monkey in the room’ comment

Two prominent pastors are calling for a Flint council member to apologize after he questioned a colleague’s ability to preside over council meetings, calling her problems with maintaining order “the monkey in the room” during a meeting this week.

Pastors Chris Martin and Alfred Harris made the demand during a news conference on Thursday, Sept. 21, three days after 8th Ward Councilman Dennis Pfeiffer, who is white, directed the comment at 2nd Ward Councilwoman Ladel Lewis, who is Black.

Former Cleveland dance teacher Terence Greene gets at least 365 years for sexually abusing 8 teenage students.😥

A disgraced former Cleveland dance teacher will almost certainly spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually abusing several of his students over a period of more than two decades.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Kevin Kelley on Thursday sentenced Terence Greene to life behind bars, with the possibility of parole after 365 years. Greene had previously been convicted last month of the following charges:

16 counts of rape 

25 counts of sexual battery 

1 count of gross sexual imposition 

8 counts of felonious assault 

13 counts of kidnapping 

2 counts of disseminating matter harmful to juvenile

Suzanne Somers, of 'Three's Company,' dies at 76😥

Suzanne Somers, the effervescent blonde actor known for playing Chrissy Snow on the television show "Three's Company" and who became an entrepreneur and New York Times best-selling author, has died. She was 76.

Somers had breast cancer for over 23 years and died Sunday morning, her family said in a statement provided by her longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay. Her husband Alan Hamel, her son Bruce and other immediate family were with her in Palm Springs, California.

Family members and the Southern California community have gathered around a 13-year-old girl who was violently beaten by an adult woman inside a Southern California McDonald’s Sept. 6, an incident that was  captured on video. 😮
