Welcome to Chime and Discord, Episode 1.

This is a story of a near-future dystopian America, where the people’s lives are disrupted and threatened by local and federal anti-democratic forces.

I began writing this story before Trump ran for his second term of office. Since his second term began, Trump has initiated countless authoritarian, anti-democratic acts that affect us all on a personal level. Many of us are distraught about what is happening in our world right now, and it is those feelings and a desire to take action, that lead me to put this story into the world before it is even finished.

Chime and Discord offer a source of solace, hope and action for listeners of all ages with the story of Ti, a seventeen year old living in a world fallen apart, whose hopes depend on what's hatching from a giant egg.

Here is the layout of Chime and Discord Time Periods and Characters we meet in Episode 1….

The Wayback is the time the characters remember from before The Last War

The Last War caused the country to look as it does in the book’s current time period.

Tiam (Ti): she/her, 17 year old: curious, passionate; loves running, music, and being creative

Mom (Vigil): she/her, Tiam’s Mom, a former teacher, lives with Tiam and Bell

Bell: he/him, A fixer who moves in with Mom and Tiam

Stampers: Local gangs around the country united by a mission to stamp out diverse thought, empathy and democratic structures; they patrol the cities and enforce their own rules of living; antagonistic, scary, a real threat

Traders: adult individuals and small groups who travel around the region collecting things and trading them, friendly to the community; mysterious, creative

Fixers: adult individuals and small groups who fix all things broken during the Last War; Bell is one of them

Watchers: adults who watch bad things happen and do nothing to stop it. They do not mass together, they are easily manipulated.
