Diabetes has been top of mind for me because it has impacted those around me, so when I heard the news the optimist in me was overly excited. However, it was quickly dampened when I remembered just a few months ago a similar breakthrough was achieved with CRISPR and sickle cell treatment, but the challenge was going to be scaling it and cost.
