The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson

Chocolate Milk = Diversity?

Listen Later

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner found himself part of an awkward demonstration to show the power of diversity with a simple childhood treat: chocolate milk. Hyatt Hotels diversity and inclusion executive Tyronne Stoudemire asked the governor to help him with the demonstration at a workplace diversity event. He poured milk into a glass, then squirted in chocolate syrup; the governor was tasked with stirring it up to make chocolate milk. “Diversity sits at the bottom of the organization,” Stoudemire explained. “You don’t get inclusion until you actually stir it up.” Stoudemire, who is black, told reporters that he’d been using this simple analogy for 16 years to show how companies can change to increase diversity. On today’s show, Doc and Jeffy got a bit more detailed as they tried to figure out other ways to demonstrate diversity with sweet tweets. What do the green peanut M&Ms stand for?
