Simple advice to help your podcast succeed.

Episode 9: Choose a Good Podcast Host:

In order to distribute your podcast to the world. The audio files you create must reside somewhere.

Although technically, that location can be anywhere that serves files over the internet, it’s highly discouraged to host your audio files anywhere that isn’t specifically made to host and distribute podcast files.

That’s where a Podcast Host comes in. Popular podcast hosting companies include Blubrry, Captivate, Buzzsprout, Podbean, Transistor and the one I use Libsyn.

Get your first month of hosting free when you use the code BRANDING when you sign up for a Libsyn account.

Why use a podcast hosting company?

For one, ease of use.

Podcast hosting companies make it very easy to host and distribute your podcast. Your audio files are then served to Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and many more.

Once your account is set up, all you do is upload an audio file, enter some information about the episode, and press publish. They do the rest. There’s no need to worry about bandwidth or CPU usage that may arise from other platforms.

The second reason to use a podcast host is for stats. All the big hosting companies offer comprehensive stats from multiple destinations to show how well your podcast is doing.

Things such as the number of downloads you’re getting and where those downloads are coming from are vital information to help you grow your show.

Without a podcast host, you would need to visit every distribution platform individually and total up all the stats yourself.

So whether you decide on a free podcast host such as RedCircle or Spotify for Podcasters or one of the premium services I mentioned earlier, a podcast host is a great investment in your show.

Speaking of investments, professionally designed podcast cover artwork and websites are worthwhile investments if you’re serious about your podcast.

Luckily for you, I offer those services and more at podcastbranding.co
