Today’s reflection: Choose to Forgive!
Have you faced disappointments in Life? Know that you are not alone. Have you felt hurt or abandoned? Know that you are not alone. Has a family member, a friend, or a work colleague hurt you? These are all matters that have been faced by many in their walk of Life. Life can have its ups and downs. In Life, we may have felt offended, hurt, or wronged by another, or perhaps we may have even been the offender that offended, hurt, or wronged someone else. But God calls us to forgive. Sometimes, that forgiveness requires us to forgive the other person and to forgive ourselves.
It has been said that forgiveness is a process. Indeed, Forgiveness is a choice you must make. When you forgive, you release yourself from the chains of unforgiveness and hurt.
Most important to note is that when we forgive, we are following God’s commandments.
Mark 11:25 says, “Whenever you stand praying if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”
And Matthew 6:14-15 also states For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Former South African President Nelson Mandela has some amazing quotes on unforgiveness, here is what he shared: “Forgiveness liberates the soul, it removes fear. That’s why it’s such a powerful weapon.”
Once again, Matthew 6:15 says, “But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Make the Choice today to Forgive.
