How valuable can a business name be? Well, according to Forbes, the brand name Apple is worth $182.8 billion...Please understand, this is not how much the entire brand is worth. This is just the name. This is 21% of the company's overall value.
Google is second on the list with its brand being valued at $132.1 billion. Now, the tech companies are definitely at the top of this list, but it doesn't mean that brand name value is not important for the other players.
Luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Hermes understand that brand name and value are worth more than a businesses tangible assets. One proverb puts it this way, " A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold." (Proverb of King Solomon).
So it begs the question, how do we choose, develop, and protect the names of the businesses we start?
That's what we'll be exploring over the next few weeks on Ask Temi Live!
Today's video discusses the million dollar trademark mistake, Apple Computers made at its inception, so that today's business owners won't make the same mistakes.
